God Almighty, let Your Spirit fill my soul to overflowing so that I am comforted even in the valley of grief. For there is grief in the loss of loved ones. There is grief in the change of life seasons. There is grief in the midst of lost places and poignant memories. Father. let me be comforted by You when sadness cloaks my heart. Grant me a fresh perspective regarding heavenly purpose even when my focus tends to be rooted in the things of this world, this life that I thought I knew so well. Forgive me for making lesser things of greater importance than You in my life. What You give me is of far more value, Jesus. I know that my heart need not be troubled by loss for in You I have gained everything. Bring me to the peaceful perspective only gained by immersing myself in Your presence daily. Under the beautiful word of truth in John 14:27 and the authority of my Savior, Christ Jesus, these prayers are set upon the altar of God.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.
Not as the world gives do I give to you.
Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
John 14:27, ESV
