My loving and merciful Father in heaven, let Your sweet comfort of serenity minister to the grieving heart of Your beloved servant. May Your holy presence assuage the sorrow that comes when loss has opened the door of my heart. Bless me with tender mercy in Your presence as I present my pain upon Your altar. Father, only You can fill the gap in my soul where emptiness plagues me like famine. I hunger for Your Word. I thirst for Your grace. May the voids which I experience in life be filled by You because You are enough for me. Slay the desire which leads me to pursue lesser loves in this life, Lord. Your love is over all and in all and through all. Your love leaves no gap or void because it is unending. Though I lose the battle of the heart at times, the war waged against my soul is already won. In the hope of victory, I will walk to Your altar in order to place the pieces of a broken heart into the hands of the One who can mend me. Under Your beautiful word in Isaiah 57:15 and the authority of Christ, I lift these prayers with the remainder of my strength.
For thus says the One who is high and lifted up,
who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:
“I dwell in the high and holy place,
and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit,
to revive the spirit of the lowly,
and to revive the heart of the contrite.”
Isaiah 57:15, ESV
