My Lord and Savior, I endear myself to You as the storm rages and the tides rush in, consuming me with skepticism that rivals faith. Forgive me for the weakness that makes me such easy prey for the night wolves lurking around the enclosure of my heart. The enemy has such a ravenous appetite for even a morsel of doubt or a crumb of fear that gets lodged in my heart. When I see the glow of apathy reflected in my predator’s eyes because it has crept into my own hungry soul, let me turn to You for the nourishment my starving soul needs lest I become more like the one who hunts me than the Shepherd who protects me. Jesus, You drive all fear away because it is You who lays Yourself across the enclosure designated for Your sheep. The dark wolf can circle the fold but his fangs cannot sink into the sheep belonging to the Good Shepherd. Your guard is eternal. Your protection is everlasting. When the elements alter and the winds of change push against Your own, You remain the shelter that encircles us, the refuge and strong tower unreachable by the prowling forces of fear and doubt. Thank You, Lord, for being my Shepherd. Let me cling to Your goodness now and forevermore. Under the Word of truth in John 10:11-13 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in grateful prayer.
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.”
John 10:11-13, NIV
You drive all fear away because it is You who lays Yourself across the enclosure designated for Your sheep–Amen!
