Lord, You are the Master of every beginning and the Author of every ending. As You speak, so creation obeys. Grant me a spirit of submission that will respond in such a way to Your Word over my life. Your promises are not only faithful evidence of Your gracious heart, they are the foundation of truth I can build my life upon. You are not unaware of the parchedness which has caused my soul to become brittle and breakable. Your offer of living water is the only thing that can make me supple again, moldable beneath Your mighty hand so that I can be shaped into the image of Your Son. Even a single drop of mercy has eternal effects on that which has hardened within me. My soul pants for You, Jesus. Your presence in my life is what I need. Let it also be what I want. Melt my heart with tears of holiness until all other carnal desires are demolished. Take every thought captive to Your glory and goodness, God. You are the Keeper of true pleasure. You are the distributor of all goodness. I thank You for Your generous heart. I worship You, the Author and perfecter of my faith, the Keeper of my life. Under the beauty of Your Holy Word in Hebrews 12:1-3 and the authority of my Savior and King Christ Jesus, I come to the altar in humble prayer.

Therefore let’s also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who has endured such contradiction of sinners against Himself, that you don’t grow weary, fainting in your souls.
