Since my heart has endured afflictions, I could never have imagined that my soul could rejoice with complete abandon to Your faithfulness, God. What the enemy intended for evil, You truly worked for good. When the shadows of cultural influence clouded my thoughts, the light of truth and love pierced the thick canopy of deception and brought clarity which reestablished faith. My skin sags and my bones may creak with age, yet my spirit remains youthful because my soul is replenished by drinking in the daily Word. I need not fear when I am besieged by doubt and ransacked with worry. Let me take refuge in my Savior. When I was buried in sin, the strong hands of my Redeemer dug me out of that grave. Jesus, You made a way of escape where there appeared to be no way. My heart overflows with gratitude for the eternal rescue. You have not shut out my prayers nor turned a deaf ear to my cries. Those who are attacked, left helpless and devastated, find healing in the salvation balm flowing from the cross of Christ. Blessed be Your Name. You make the bitter sweet again. Great is Your faithfulness. Abundant is Your grace. Wash me afresh each morning with mercy. Take me under Your wing as a new day approaches with storm clouds on the horizon. My hope remains steadfast in You, my Lord and Savior. Under the beauty and endurance of the Word set down in 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 and Christ’s loving authority, I gladly bow before the altar in prayer.
Therefore we don’t faint, but though our outward person is decaying, yet our inward person is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is for the moment, works for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory, while we don’t look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18, WEB

You make the bitter sweet again. Great is Your faithfulness. Abundant is Your grace. Wash me afresh each morning with mercy–Amen!
