Today’s Prayer

Take me through the journey of life with a growing attraction for things eternal. Keep me from wrong priorities and vain concerns. May I not be overly concerned with the now at the expense of the hereafter. Jesus, moderate my desires. Lift me out of the net of worry which often tangles me up in speculation that is futile at best and dangerous at worst. You have commanded my thoughts to remain on all things noble and good. So let my ponderings fall within the boundaries of Your commands. Improve and strengthen my sight so that the binocular of faith grants me a better view than my worried lenses ever would. Let me be cheered by that which might otherwise overwhelm me because my vision is no longer distorted by fear. I trust in Your sovereignty Lord. Your perfection and glory never alter. Your ways are beyond human fathoming. Why would I waste a morsel of time in worry when I know that You have it all under control? Even what the enemy intends for evil You can turn to good. Guide me every step of the way. Lead to the path of righteousness for Your Name’s sake. Under the blessed assurance of the Holy Word set down in Psalm 16:11 and the authority of Christ my Savior, I pray.

You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Psalm 16:11, ESV
