My Lord, keep my focus laser-straight on the bedrock horizon of eternity. Let me not trip along the way because I perpetually look backwards at what was instead of ahead at what will be. Discouragement whispers a hundred reasons to give up the work of faith. Abiding in Your Word provides me with a thousand reasons to persevere. Weariness convinces me with one hundred aches and pains to quit before it gets worse. A thousand infusions of Your Spirit in each one of my breaths gives me strength to continue. Jesus, I wait upon You because in You I find strength renewed. On the breeze of Your love, I mount up with eagle wings. Let Your servant remain strong in the power of Your might. Your Word, as it rains on the parched soil of my heart, provides what I need to bloom. Lord, accomplish what You need from me in the ground where You have planted me. May the etched truth of Your sacrifice not be in vain as I live to Your glory. Warm me when I am about to go astray. Drag me out when I have fallen into a pit. Show me the path of life and steady my hesitant and sometimes wandering steps. Under the blessed assurance of truth found in Jeremiah 6:16 and the authority of my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ I bow in prayer.

This is what the Lord says: Stand by the roadways and look. Ask about the ancient paths, “Which is the way to what is good?” Then take it and find rest for yourselves.
