Today’s Prayer

The depth and breadth of Your love, Lord, dazzles the darkest places of the heart where even its owner fears to dwell. Such an all-consuming love deserves full surrender, not futile resistance. Whatever compartment of myself I have ignorantly tried to keep closed to You, Jesus, let me open wide until You come in and make all things new. Take my imagination and purify every thought. Take my intellect and use it to grow my being into Your likeness. Increase my intimate knowledge of You, Lord. Take my desires and make them holy. Take my motivations and make them godly. My love needs to be refined by sacrifice. My kindness needs to be empowered by Your Spirit. My peace needs to be anchored in Your presence. My blessed Savior, I give You my desolate soul so that Your Spirit can blow the embers of faith into a roaring fire. With gratitude and holy anticipation, I look forward to what You will do. My heart rejoices because You delight to turn desert wanderers into Kingdom ambassadors. What more could my soul desire except all You have given me from the cross, Jesus? Your grace watches over the beloved. Your compassion cares for Your saints. Your mercy supplies what the servant needs. Your protection defends the rebellious. Blessed be the Name of the Lord who shines light into darkness. Under the protective embrace of the Word in Lamentations 3:22-24 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in prayer.

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
    for His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
    great is Your faithfulness.
I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion;
    therefore I will wait for Him.”
Lamentations 3:22-24, NIV
