My unsteady feet are prone to wander, Lord. Do not forsake me to my own way. Yours is the better path. Yours is the way that leads me out of the enemy lands. Beneath the canopy of Your protection, the sheep are kept within the fold of the King’s flock. As a branch is dependent on the vine, Lord Jesus, I am dependent on You. Let Your love move with life-giving, fruit-bearing power through the stem of faith that connects me to You. Without Your daily presence, my soul withers. Lacking faith in Your finished work on the cross, death awaits me. In every aspect of life do not leave me to my own devices. Stay near me in the joys lest they absorb my heart with a tendency toward false worship. Hold me in my sorrows so that I do not blame You when I am blinded by emotional anguish. Take my hand and turn me around in repentance when my gaze fixates on the wrong destination. Let me not despair in days of confession, Lord. What a blessed honor to cast my burdens upon your mighty shoulders. And when my faith grows strong, let me not produce the fruit of arrogance. Keep my steps printed with humility. Without You, I am weak and helpless. The path is full of treachery and hidden snares. Daily, I look to You for guidance. Let my weary heart rejoice that the Lord does not forsake His own. Under the blessed assurance of Deuteronomy 31:8 and the authority of Christ Jesus I come to the altar in prayer.
