Father, protect me from myself with the same diligence that You protect me from the enemy. Truly, You have rescued me from foes I cannot fathom. When despair mauls me like a lion and sadness tears my heart to pieces, only the hope granted me by Your Spirit can sustain me for battle. Even when I have done wrong, You are there to pardon in the power of repentance. If a friend betrays me, Your presence gives me the power to forgive. Even though the enemy plunders my peace, Your nearness replenishes what was lost. When my honor has been dragged in the mud, Your love restores my shattered heart. In the midst of battle, I find my greatest defender is You. Stand up against the fury writhing within my own soul, Lord. Help control the emotions that declare war on my peace, a peace You granted me from the cross. Only Your eyes can see the depths of my heart’s pain. Lord, I trust myself completely to Your care because You are an honest judge. Sharpen truth like a mighty sword within me until the flaming arrows of condemnation and sadness are utterly slayed. Under the precious Word of 2 Corinthians 4:7-9 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.
