Today’s Prayer

My Lord, keep me poor in spirit so that I might be blessed by Your nearness. Let humility, low-mindedness, and abasement be the mark of my devotion. For I am deeply convinced of my own wretched state in the sight of the perfection of my Savior. Keep me from being wise in my own eyes and holy according to my comparisons with others. I am not deceived into thinking that I need nothing. My soul cries out for You in my blind, naked vulnerability. How blessed I am because You listen for me. How truly favored is the one who mourns separation from You. Let me sorrow over the distance my actions have placed between us. Let me grieve over my shortcomings and trouble myself to remain mindful of the narrow path. One day all weeping and mourning will be dismissed because Your divine finger will wipe those tears away. With patience and contented trust in You, I await the day when the separation between us will not be a trap I can fall into or a choice I can make. While I wait for the good things Lord, enable me to bear injury without resentment. Let disappointment not lead to wounding. Keep me slow to take offense. For I hunger and thirst for righteousness, Lord, as I seek Your presence every day. Under the canopy of the Word’s power in Deuteronomy 4:29-30 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.

But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul. When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, then in later days you will return to the Lord your God and obey Him.
Deuteronomy 4:29-20, NIV
