Though I dwell in a land of death and sorrow, let my heart and soul faithfully serve the Creator of life. The injury of thieves, the threat of fire, and the loss of vitality need not trouble the one whose heart belongs to the mighty watcher and weaver of all events. Let the terrors be what they may, for those in Christ do not need to be afraid, nor heed the world’s alarms. God, You are a loving Father. You are goodness that never sleeps. In the lonely hours, You are a companion. Amid the confusion, You are wisdom. I praise You because You are my guardian in whom I take refuge. Nothing happens outside Your sovereignty. Darkness has no claim on Your heart. It is You who protects Your own with an unbreakable barrier of love. Lord, cast out dismal foreboding and foolish fear. Let them who are of the world tremble beneath the wrath of God above, the guilty conscience near, and the yawn of hell below. Gladly and reverently I grip the hand of my Savior, thankful to be His, the One whose rich mercy and abundant grace leaves no room for a fool’s fear. Under the canopy of truth in John 16:33 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.
John 16:33, ESV

Gladly and reverently I grip the hand of my Savior, thankful to be His, the One whose rich mercy and abundant grace leaves no room for a fool’s fear–Amen!
