Lord Jesus, increase the power of love in my life. Let me love You with whole-hearted affection. I dare not give such intensity to another human being. You alone are worthy, Lord. Do not depart from Your unworthy beloved. Take the faulty affections offered to You and make them deep and abiding in Your perfection. Let me hold earthly comfort loosely. Let me release all that keeps me from fully experiencing You. Carry me, Lord, when another step is too painful to take. Those days when it is hard to deny myself, remind me of all You have done. Give me strength for Your sake so that I am not easily driven to despair. Only feeble love is dried up by the flames of adversity. Love rooted in firm belief is a deep stream untouched by the fire. May circumstances of life carry no power to divide. Let the cry of my heart be to love You more. If only my heart was capable of receiving all of You. But You are far too great, God. Your generosity knows no bounds. Your love is limitless. Measure my love by intention even though my longest reach is too short and my affection is but a drop in a vast ocean. My intention remains to give You more tomorrow than I have today. Under the direction of Your Word in Deuteronomy 6:5 and the authority of Christ, I pray.
