In reverent awe of my beloved Creator, I bow before You, Lord God, with a contrite heart. As the desert stretches out before Your precious child, provide for me the necessary sustenance from Your Holy Word which will help me take the battlefield with confidence that stems from closeness with You. May I lean into You until Your strength becomes my own. May I press on toward the victory that You have claimed on my behalf. In quiet assurance, grab hold of my faulty perspective to make giants into ants and deserts into sandboxes. Grant me the defiant faith necessary to step into the land of promise where You await me with open arms. As You have pursued me, Lord, let my heart continually pursue You. For there is no end to the depths of Your love. There is no delight greater than the joy of salvation in Christ Jesus. Enable me to be still and know that the love of God is my victory. Under the blessed reminder of 1 Samuel 12:16 and the authority of Christ, my humble heart lifts these prayers.
“Pay attention! Watch this wonder that God is going to perform before you now! It’s summer, as you well know, and the rainy season is over. But I’m going to pray to God. He’ll send thunder and rain, a sign to convince you of the great wrong you have done to God by asking for a king.”
1 Samuel 12:16, MSG
