Let me endure the jagged pieces of a broken heart rather than ignore the tragedy of human life and death. Make me bleed with compassion for those who turn their back on a holy God and bring themselves wrath unimaginable. Keep me far from contempt for such moral ignorance, Lord. Let those lost souls not cross my path unless I am willing to wet their dusty road with my tears of intercessory prayer. This world’s treasure and pleasure hold no stock for me, Lord. I have all I need in You. Yet, for many, this world deceives them into following roads that lead to nowhere. Make my testimony one of compassion not judgement, Lord. Though I cannot prevent another’s moral suicide, I can offer up intercession with heartfelt tears. Give me no blessing which cannot be shared. Rebuke me for forgetting those without hope and let me not cease to do good no matter what it costs me. Remind me to scorn happiness that comes with the price of ignorance or turning a blind eye on suffering. You have called Your own to be ambassadors. Equip Your servant to step into that calling. I reckon myself to Your Kingdom cause, Lord God Almighty. Pull tight on the bond that keeps me aware of Adam’s tragic race. Even as I enter heaven with tears of mourning for those that perish, let me do all Your love enables me to while here on this side of the veil. Under the sweet truth of the Word in Mark 8:36 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.
For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?
Mark 8:36, ESV
