Today’s Prayer

Instill the appropriate fear in my heart, Lord. Draw me into the depths of goodness where transgression cannot coexist. Drive out the infection of wickedness that plagues the soul. I have set my eyes on the truth of Your Word. My hope rises and falls with my Savior’s blood. Reveal to me my iniquity and let me not flatter myself in ignorance. Trouble and deceit are like a beam I cannot see beyond. Only Your mighty hand can pull it from my eyes. Lead me to act wisely and do good. Turn me away from evil, Lord. Your love is a beacon of hope on the horizon. Your mercy is steadfast. Extend my faith to reach the clouds. I trust in Your judgments, Lord. I delight in the depth of Your heart. Salvation is Yours alone. Precious to me are the lessons You teach. Through trial and adversity, let me learn well the ways of the King. Through blessing and abundance, let me learn well the heart of God. The river of Your Word is full of delight. The fountain of life never runs dry. Let the parched come and be satisfied. Continue Your steadfast love to those who know You, Lord. Extend Your righteousness to the chosen. Keep me from a haughty spirit and arrogant appetite. I am humbly Yours. Under the blessed authority of my Savior and the Word of God in Romans 13:3-4 I bow in prayer.

For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; for it is a servant of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a servant of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil.
Romans 13:3-4, NASB
