Today’s Prayer

Lord, I echo the cry of Your first disciples – Increase my faith! It is the mighty foundation of a holy life. I relinquish the purpose of my earthly affairs to Your sovereign will. As I trust You for my daily needs, I know that you will help me live in the world while not being of the world. Keep me from idleness that invites folly and temptation to trip me up on this path. I do not want to be imprudent or rash in dealing with my circumstances. Because I am called by Your Name, I do not need to bow to fate or succumb to chance. All things are Yours to work with, even the most unfortunate things. I lean on You in times of trouble, Jesus. Simply and entirely, I desire to follow where You lead. Do not compel me to mourn what I have lost through trial or tragedy or sin. Rather, let me serve You with integrity and contentment for my lot. Hold all internal contradictions at bay. Lead me in an authentic faith that takes audacious steps which glorify Your Name. Let the winds blow the varying customs of culture away from my mind. Make wisdom take root in my heart, Lord, as only Your presence can do. Lord, I cast the burden of my faith upon You because I know that You are the God who multiplies. Under the beautiful canopy of Your Word in Luke 17:5-6 and the authority of Christ, I pray.

The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”
He replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.”
Luke 17:5-6, NIV
