Lord, keep me from being of the world while I am in the world. Mark my living with a holiness that adheres to the tenet that to live is Christ. Keep me mindful of Your glory in the most mundane tasks such as eating and drinking. Make my prayerful gratitude more than a ritualistic rote prayer said over a meal so that others might think me spiritual. Teach me what it means to lay up treasure in heaven. Lord, only You can sift the motives of my heart. If I should strive, let me strive for wealth in the area of faith, holiness, and love. Show me where and how to serve. Let my pleasure-seeking revolve around time with You. Let me not exploit carnal delights by using them as a faulty way of expressing joy in the Lord. Rather, let me be conscious of Your presence, delighting in communion with You and desiring to honor Your Name above all names. Keep me separate from the world as I abide completely in You. Under the blessing of John 15:4 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
John 15:4, ESV
