Lord, increase my faith. Let it blossom with the aroma that only comes from abiding in the vine. Through faith, help me endure the trials of life until the triumph brings You glory. When logic is banished to the inner prison of my mind and my feet become shackled in the stocks of bitterness, let the song of mercy rise on the melody of grace. Only faith can push back the veil to reveal the true purpose behind life’s calamity. Weave my thoughts into the lyrics of faith’s melodious song, Lord. There is no adversity that does not serve Your purpose. What weighs me down is not as heavy as my heart might think it is. Grant me faith’s perspective. Let me see that trouble is not as severe as I imagine it to be. In light of eternity, all this is but shadow. My affliction is not so crushing as some that others have carried to strengthen their muscles of faith. Even in my worst sorrow, I can rest assured that You are shaping me. Looking through a lens of faith, I can see Your love gleaming like a jewel in the crown of my Savior. Let me sing a lament while knowing that every trial and all adversity is spiritually good for me if You have allowed it. Use it all, Lord, to increase my faith. Under the righteousness of the Holy Word set down in 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 and the authority of Christ, I pray.
For our light affliction, which is for the moment, worketh for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory; while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:17-18, ASV
