Today’s Prayer

Let me spend the sweet hours praising, loving, and admiring my Lord and King. Before the glory of Your altar, I cover myself in prayer. Though I have so little to offer the King, I am humbly grateful that You do not turn my erring heart away. How can I express the fullness of love so divine as it works its way through my soul and mind? In my poverty, I look to You for a richness I could scarcely fathom. It is true that my inheritance in Christ is far more valuable than anything this world offers. I yield to Your sovereign grace. Even if all I have is a soul worth two pennies, I gladly put it on Your altar. Let me not do nothing simply because I cannot do it all. Help me be content with what You have assigned me. When the road reaches a fork, show me which way is best. Guide the steps along the narrow path because the wider path is wrought with destruction. How much better is it for me to be Yours than for me to be my own? Though completely unfit, You have allowed me to do so much. Enable me with discernment so that I do not squander spiritual opportunities. In the light of Your love, my soul truly thrives. In the tenderness of Your salvation, my heart is nourished back to life. With lips dripping with praise, I worship You in these prayers. Under the blessed canopy of Psalm 76:7-9 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.

But You, You are to be feared!
    Who can stand before You
    when once Your anger is roused?
From the heavens You uttered judgment;
    the earth feared and was still,
when God arose to establish judgment,
    to save all the humble of the earth.
Psalm 76:7-9, ESV
