My Review

In her debut novel, Of Love and Treason, Jamie Ogle brings to life the legend of Saint Valentine. With a gentle writer’s touch, Ogle takes the wispy threads of history regarding a Roman Christian during the second century and winds in a beautifully imagined story rich with ancient Roman culture.

The narrative pulses around strong characters with faithful convictions that truly inspire self-reflection. As Iris and Valens face life obstacles that challenge their beliefs, their heroic choices in the face of a shadowed culture illuminates the depth of true love.

With light-hearted, timely humor, and comfortable banter, Ogle creates three-dimensional characters that pull you into their relationships so tenderly you can’t help but become invested in the outcome of their choices.

The story unfolds with page-turning nudges that do not allow the reader’s interest to wane. With every plot step moving toward a frightening conclusion, the ending of the book makes it well worth the journey. Lovers of historical fiction with a strong Christian theme won’t be disappointed with Of Love and Treason
