Today’s Prayer

Your presence is my comfort and safety, Lord. Your sweet promises soften the pillow when I lay down in a bed of sorrow. As I traverse the valley amidst the fog created by death’s shadow, the pressure of Your hand leading me chases away the fear caused by my inability to see You. How my soul delights to anticipate Your frequent visits in our time of prayer. My ears are inclined toward the comfort of Your voice. To know that my heart is Yours provides the canopy I need when the vale of tears befalls me. Let my soul find refuge in the chamber of silence where Your holiness holds me, Your presence protects me, and Your love lifts me. Under the Word of truth in Psalm 31:9-10 and the authority of Christ, my King, I humbly pray with a devoted heart.

Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am in distress;
    my eye is wasted from grief;
    my soul and my body also.
For my life is spent with sorrow,
    and my years with sighing;
my strength fails because of my iniquity,
    and my bones waste away.
Psalm 31:9-10, ESV
