Today’s Prayer

Jesus, You are the balm that covers the gaping wounds bleeding deceit into my soul. Your Word heals. Your presence remedies. Your love stitches together the fabric of my soul torn apart by grief and iniquity. Using the precision of Your promises, probe the injuries that have caused me to distance myself from You. Your mighty Name is the holy ointment that diminishes the plague of selfishness. I am not my own. I am Yours. Let me give up all that I own as my identity and take only what You give me. Confer upon me the title Child of God. There is no other comfort except that which You offer. Your rich provision diminishes the poverty of my soul. I need nothing except You. Rebuke my sad and desponding heart. Fill me instead with gratitude that our engagement is my comfort. I know You will not neglect me. I know You will complete that which You have started. Truly, You have given me a garment of praise in exchange for my spirit of heaviness. I trust You now and forevermore with my pain, both in body and in heart. Under the beauty of the Word in Psalm 30:1-2, 5 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.

I will extol You, O Lord, for You have drawn me up
and have not let my foes rejoice over me.
O Lord my God, I cried to You for help,
    and You have healed me.
Weeping may tarry for the night,
but joy comes with the morning.
Psalm 30:1-2, 5, ESV
