Today’s Prayer

Lord, keep me from isolating myself within the shelter of my own desires. My judgment lacks soundness when I do not seek the counsel of Your Word before making choices. The expression of my opinion should be a much lower priority than obtaining a complete understanding of Your truth in any given situation. Remove contempt from my heart so that my actions in treating others do not dishonor who I am in You. The arrows of wickedness arc wide and long over those who remain beneath a canopy of Your saving grace. Put Your words in my mouth, Lord, because I scarcely trust my own. Let wisdom bubble like a fountain within me. Whatever partiality I harbor in my heart, may Your Spirit eclipse as shadow. Illuminate the light of righteousness that comes not because of what I have done but because of what You have done for me. Lord God, command my lips to speak words that give love. Even whispers of condemnation are barbs to the soul that are not easily dislodged. As You use me for Kingdom purpose, shield me from worldly criticism. As Your servant, I am not deprived of Your Spirit’s assistance. Where I am weak, You are strong. I delight in Your companionship. Under the blessed assurance of the Word in John 15:14-16 and the authority of Christ, I come to the altar in prayer.

You are My friends if you do what I command you.  No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.  You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in My Name, He may give it to you.
