Work Your Spirit in me, Lord, until genuine faithfulness is manifested in my life. Move me to repentance so I can experience the fullness of Christ that I never experienced before. You can turn weeds of regret into blossoms of hope when the flowerbed of divine grace is planted in my penitent heart. May the only hatred that exists within me be one bent toward sin. Truly, the natural thorns of my human nature have pierced those with good intentions. I am grateful for divine forgiveness. Fix my steady gaze upon the cross as I take merciful breaths of cleansing truth. It is only in the light of Your love that my transgressions fade. Turn me away from evil, Lord. Your goodness is distinct, requiring a fullness of attentive devotion. Let me be eminently practical in self-reflection as I gaze intentionally into the mirror of Your Word. Evil is not merely a theory but a reality that stretches its bony fingers into the smallest rip of the soul. Do not let me become unraveled by it. Keep me watchful over my daily actions and mindful over my momentary thoughts. Where there has been offense, let me offer apology. Where there has been wrongdoing, let me be quick to make amends. Though my confessions are painful at times, they are cleansing. Work Your Spirit in me, Lord, so that I can become a better reflection of You. Under the sober warning of Your Word in Genesis 4:7 and the authority of Christ, I pray.
“If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is contrary to you, but you must rule over it.”
Genesis 4:7, ESV
