With earnest devotion, I seek the depths of Your heart, Lord God. My soul is parched for righteousness. Only Your presence can slake my thirst. Taking a breath that is not mindful of Your glory makes my heart faint with preoccupations of worldly concerns. There is no sustenance in the weariness of daily living without You. I delight to enter the sanctuary of Your Word. It is in that sacred space behind the text that I see Your power and saturate myself in truth that glorifies You. There is nothing better in this life than Your steadfast love. The current of holiness flows in the direction of Your will. Let me ride upon the waves in praise and worship. With the life given to me, I continually serve You. Mold my legacy to better reflect Your Son. Only with my hands lifted can I point heavenward. Draw me upward when everything in life seems to want to drag me down. It is with earnestness that I come to You in prayer. It is in great devotion that I abide in You. It is in response to Your all-powerful love that I love You. Under the amazing canopy of the Word in Psalm 73:26-28 and the authority of my Savior, Christ Jesus, I come to the altar in prayer.
My flesh and my heart fails,
but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
For, behold, those who are far from you shall perish.
You have destroyed all those who are unfaithful to you.
But it is good for me to come close to God.
I have made the Lord Yahweh my refuge,
that I may tell of all your works.
Psalm 73:26-28, NIV
