Today’s Prayer

Your love is the mightiest conqueror, Lord. When fear encroaches, its subtle approach scarcely noticed until I am gripped with anxious panic, I need only turn in Your direction to find the peace that slays the worry. In comparison to Your love’s fullness, Lord, mine often comes up empty. My affection is impoverished compared to the wealth of all You have lavished upon me. I am fully aware of my weaknesses, Lord. I can scarcely endure a negative comment much less the true wrath my soul deserves. My heart is overwhelmed in gratitude for Your salvation. Jesus, You are the matchless lover of souls, the inheritance that we hope for, and the longing fulfilled. With a love stronger than death, You pulled me to a higher understanding of life’s purpose. You redefined love as You peeled back the layers of my image-bearing potential. Your triumph on the cross falls like a shade that protects me from the scorching intensity of adversity. I thank You for despising the shame on my behalf. My emotions are excited to worship. The ardor of my spirit is quickened. Your love shields me from despair. Mighty is the Name of the Lord. Under the magnificence of Your Word in Hebrews 12:1-2 and the authority of Christ, my intercessor, I pray.

Therefore let’s also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:1-2, NIV
