Keep Your servant within the boundaries of sound judgment, Lord. I know You have not given me a spirit of fear or despair. Pull me out of my isolation lest the enemy gain a firm grip on my mind. I take pleasure in the wisdom that You impart. I delight in Your beautiful expressions of love in the simple blessings of a single day. Your glory rests in the sky above. You are the great avenger. Keep me ever mindful of Your majesty as I walk beneath the canopy of twinkling stars at night and the bright sun of day. Even when clouds filter my view, my heart settles on the expanse of eternity that stretches over my soul. Teach me in very personal ways what it means to be Yours. If I reach for any hand, let it be Yours. I look to You with humble thankfulness. As Your subject, my soul and its power belong to You. Only Your presence can build up my hope. Let me sing under the shadow and glory of Your Holy Name. Under the Word of God set down in 2 Timothy 1:6-7 and the authority of Christ, I come to the altar in prayer.
For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
2 Timothy 1:6-7, ESV
