Today’s Prayer

Truly, Lord, You are the fountain of life. When I cannot find comfort in any other source, let me be driven to Your heart’s deepest recesses. I know You allow such seasons of disconnect so that I become aware of reliance on things other than You. Rid me of the quiet idols that sit silent in my heart, vying for attention while I go about unaware of their influence. When my interaction with You becomes ritualistic and holy desire fizzles to embers, blow the breath of Your Spirit across the flickering flames. Let nothing keep me away from You. I long to live wholly and passionately in Your grace. Blessed are the ones covered by Your atonement. I turn to You in eagerness. Even when the night seasons are dark, the light of Your truth shines brightly in Your Word. Blessed is the one whose shield is the Lord’s defense. You are the great intercessor, Jesus. My troubles, though a mystery to me, are no surprise to You. I rest content in Your loving kindness. The life You offer is a spring that never runs dry. Under the beauty of the Word in Psalm 141:8 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.

But my eyes are toward You, O God, my Lord;
    in You I seek refuge; leave me not defenseless.
Psalm 141:8, ESV
