My Review

The Fur Trader’s Lady by Gabrielle Meyer is an utterly captivating tale that sweeps readers into the narrative with a literary flourish that instantly engages the heart. As the heroine, Charlotte, attempts to escape her villainous relative, you can’t help but become invested in her plight, sharing in the requirements of a perilous journey. The romance between her and Reid unfolds slowly yet with clean, understated passion. The harsh reality of a female navigating a male-dominated world jumps off the page, bringing the danger to life in ways that make you feel the weight of her struggle. Meyer does an excellent job of making you feel as if you are right there facing the dangers of the wilderness while being challenged by the impropriety of customs.

Shedding light on a seldom-known portion of history regarding the trading business of the 19th century, this book is rich with historical detail that enhances the thrilling pulse of the plot. This is one of those books you want to keep reading, but also don’t want it to end. Definitely swoon worthy, the characters are well developed and relatable as they explore their unexpected attraction. The suspenseful romance thrills with unpredictability surging through every chapter.

I honestly had no idea how this would end. This book pulls on heartstrings and keeps you on your toes with its tantalizing surprises. A true five-star read perfect for fans of historical romance. This Meyer gem, indicative of her unique style, will transport you to another time. When you finish it, you will be glad it is only the first in a series.
