Between the Lines strives to keep readers abreast of the latest and best in Christian fiction. Some of our best episodes are interviews with authors, but we would love to chat with readers about their favorite reads, genres, and more as well.
Please note: This podcast focuses on genres of Christian fiction: Women’s fiction, contemporary romance, contemporary romantic suspense, historical fiction, etc.
INTERVIEW:
How long have you been an influencer?
Going on three years.
What inspired you to become an influencer?
I wanted to be able to give Christian authors an avenue to market their books. When I was searching to be on a podcast, it was a difficult and discouraging process.
Share a little about your journey as an influencer.
My former publisher suggested I start a podcast for contemporary fiction Christian authors because there wasn’t much available to them. She saw it as a marketing tool for me. I had to pray about it for quite a while, because I didn’t feel qualified or even able to do this. One of my critique partners had a podcast, and she told me it wasn’t nearly as difficult as it seemed (thank you, Wendy Cunningham). She walked me through the process of recording, and I did a lot of Google searches to figure out the rest. I put out the invitation, and I was shocked at the response. After the first few months, I decided that I didn’t really care about the marketing aspect–I just wanted to give authors a place to spotlight their books. There were several requests for interviews from authors other than the contemporary genre, so I decided any Christian fiction author should have a spot. I have made the most amazing connections and gotten to know wonderful authors who want to glorify the Lord with their work. I am blessed by the experience.
What do you like most about what you do? What are your biggest challenges?
It’s so much fun getting to know the authors. The interview process is very casual–two people chatting about the world of inspiration, creation, and publication of Christian books. The biggest challenge is editing afterwards. It takes time to go through the file and cut out dead zones or areas where the dialogue isn’t as clear as it should be.
What are you working on now? What can we expect in the future?
I am considering adding the occasional conversation between my husband and me to the podcast. I think having a partner’s perspective will add a little depth and humor for the listeners.
