Today’s Prayer 1/2

Gracious and merciful God who loves His own with incorruptible intensity, make Your Holy Spirit come alive inside the soul of Your beloved. Father, may You enable me to release any attachments that encumber my walk with You, hindering the mighty revelation of Your Spirit through my unique design. This dark world needs the light You shine through those called by Your Name. Equip me to recognize those encumbering attachments, Lord, so that I can open my hands to grasp the freedom in Christ You so desperately want to give me. Even if it means peeling off one finger at a time to release the grip from the world’s false trophies, Jesus, grant me the perseverance necessary to reach the finish line and claim the crown of life as I race for freedom. Help me throw off the sinful desires of the flesh that drag me into pits of defeat over and over again, Lord. You endured the cross for me, let me persevere in life for You. Under the beauty of Hebrews 12:1-2 and the authority of Christ, these prayers are joyfully offered with open hands and a surrendered heart.

Therefore let’s also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
