INTERVIEW:
How long have you been writing? How many books or series have you published?
I’ve been writing off and on for fun since I was a little girl, but started writing seriously about ten years ago. I have one series currently, with three books published and a fourth to come later in 2026.
What inspired you to write? How does your faith impact your writing?
I’ve had stories in my head for as long as I can remember, and often dreamed of publishing books one day, but the premise of this series – Harbor of Spies – was inspired while I was in Boston for my younger daughter’s heart surgery. It was one of the most challenging periods of my life, but it is such a gift to look back now and see how God worked through that trial, both to bring my daughter to a wonderful place of health and thriving, and to plant the seeds for these books in my heart and mind. My faith is a huge part of my writing. I can’t imagine my life without the foundation of trust in God, and that definitely plays into my stories. While my characters are fictional, the struggles and challenges they face are reflective of real life, and I always want to point them back to God as the ultimate answer.
Do you have a favorite author or book? Why is that your favorite?
It’s pretty much impossible to choose! I love so many different authors and books for so many different reasons. One I always come back to, and have since I was young, is the Chronicles of Narnia. I know that’s cheating a little since it’s a series, not a single book, but those stories are the ones I’ve re-read multiple times, loved sharing with my kids, and pulled multiple quotes and encouragement from that I return to again and again. I love the adventure and imagination in them, but most of all I love how they always point to the truths of God in a way that is both understandable for the youngest of readers, and poignant for the oldest.
What is your favorite genre to read/write?
Historical romance is my favorite for both reading and writing, but I do have some contemporary storylines bouncing around in my head, so we’ll see what happens with those in the future.
What do you like most about what you do? What are your biggest challenges?
I love how crafting a story is like putting together a puzzle. I’m not a big plotter, so while I have a general idea of the story before I begin, it is always fun to discover how it comes together as I write. But in that is also the biggest challenge: taking all the pieces – the history, the characters, the family connections, the faith, the romance – and fitting them together into an authentic and fulfilling story. I’ve definitely had moments of frustration when the pieces just don’t seem like they’ll ever fit, but it makes it that much more fulfilling when they finally do come together in the end.
Do you have a favorite character in your most recent release?
I love Isaac for many reasons, but I can relate a lot to Libby, who is the heroine of Scars of the Revolution, so I’ll go with her as my favorite. She wrestles with how to understand God’s goodness when life doesn’t seem good, and her questions are very much reflective of the ones I asked after my husband and I lost our first baby and when our youngest was diagnosed with a complex congenital heart defect. Writing her journey felt like reiterating all that God taught me and the ways He grew and strengthened me, which I am so thankful for.
What are you working on now? What can we expect in the future?
I’m currently writing book 4 in my Harbor of Spies series, which is set to release late in 2026. That will wrap up this series. I have quite a few ideas for the future, but have yet to decide what I’ll work on next.
Do you have any fun facts to mention? (what is your go-to snack when writing/reading? Daily habits…)
Other authors often have these cute photos of their writing space with a fancy tea or coffee, but my go to drink while I write is… drum roll… water. Exciting, right? I do my best brainstorming when I have almost zero ability to actually write down the ideas I come up with (aka the shower, while walking, or driving). I’ve attempted voice to text on my phone and the results often have me laughing, and doing quite a bit of deciphering, when I finally do sit down at my computer.
What would you like to say to readers? (What do you hope readers take-away from your book?)
One of my favorite lines from Scars of the Revolution is: What if your scars have brought you exactly where God wants you to be? That encouragement – that God uses the hardest parts of our lives to strengthen our faith, guide us on the path He has for us, and draw us closer to Him – is what I hope readers will find in this story, and take with them long after they close the last page.

Some scars are born from duty, others from rebellion—theirs were carved by both.
Libby Caldwell has been in love with Isaac Harrison for years, ever since her late father befriended him. While her head knows there is no hope of sharing her life with a British soldier, her heart is much more difficult to convince, especially now that he is quartering in her home. With Boston under siege and battle looming, each day together forces her to recognize how deep her feelings truly are…and how forbidden.
Bound by duty to both his family and country, Isaac is determined to serve honorably in the King’s army, despite never wishing to be a soldier. But quartering with the widow and daughter of his old friend places another obligation on his shoulders—that of their well-being. The more time he spends with Miss Caldwell, the more that duty begins to feel like something personal, something he cannot allow.
As the siege of Boston tightens, Libby finds herself drawn into a dangerous game of espionage that could save the Patriot cause—and destroy any chance of a future with the man she’s growing to love.
Will betrayal and war keep their two worlds forever apart? Or will they look to the One whose love knows no bounds to bring them healing and a future?
