Anna Moore Bradfield writes character-driven biblical fiction that explores the untold stories surrounding King David—bringing depth, emotion, and spiritual insight to the people Scripture only briefly reveals.
Her series, The Lambswool Chronicles, invites readers into the lives behind the narrative—stories of faith, struggle, power, and surrender set against the backdrop of ancient Israel.
Her debut novels, Legacy and Lunacy, introduce this richly layered world, with Loosed continuing the journey through the life of Michal, David’s wife—a story of love, control, and the cost of obedience. Leaven follows closely behind.
Anna has contributed devotionals and articles across multiple platforms and collaborated on various anthologies. Her passion is to tell stories that remain grounded in Scripture while exploring the emotional and spiritual realities woven between the lines.
Readers describe her work as gripping, immersive, and hard to put down—stories that pull you in and don’t let go.
INTERVIEW:
How long have you been writing? How many books or series have you published?
I can honestly say I’ve been writing since before I could write. As a little girl, I used to make my own books—complete with pictures and swirlies to represent the words I didn’t yet know how to form. I’ve always loved stories, and that love has never faded. I began taking novel writing more seriously in late 2021. My current series, The Lambswool Chronicles, explores the struggles and family dynamics within the House of David. Loosed is the third book in that series.
What inspired you to write? How does your faith impact your writing?
My love for storytelling goes all the way back to childhood. I was the kid sitting in the front row of Sunday School, completely captivated as Bible stories came to life. There has always been something powerful to me about story—and no genre has captured my heart quite like biblical fiction.
I’ve always been drawn to the people in Scripture we know only a little about. What were their days like? What shaped them? What did they carry beneath the surface?
While Scripture gives us what we need, there are spaces where imagination can help us explore the human experience within those stories. That’s where my writing lives.
My faith deeply shapes my writing—but just as much, my writing has shaped my faith. As I step into these stories, I find God using them to draw me closer to Him in ways I didn’t expect.
Do you have a favorite author or book? Why is that your favorite?
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte is my hands-down, all-time favorite book.
What is your favorite genre to read/write?
I’ve always loved historical stories. While I currently write biblical fiction, I could easily see the Lord leading me into other time periods in the future.
Beyond biblical fiction, I’m especially drawn to the Renaissance and Victorian eras, as well as various seasons of American history. There’s something about stepping into another time and seeing how people lived, struggled, and found meaning that continues to captivate me.
What do you like most about what you do? What are your biggest challenges?
The thing I like most about what I do is when a reader reaches back to me and tells me she saw God between the pages. I had a friend say once, “You know, at first, I definitely heard your authentic voice. But, somewhere along the way, the Holy Spirit began gripping my heart. Before I knew it, it was just God.” That? That is what this is all about. And that’s why I love what I do…connecting with readers as we discover God’s love for us through these characters of Scripture.
My biggest challenge is silencing that inner critic that keeps hammering me about being a hack. I think we all know what that voice sounds like.
Do you have a favorite character in your most recent release?
Michal is my absolute favorite in this book—hands down. I poured so much of myself into her that she feels like a kindred spirit.
Paltiel also surprised me in the best way. His character came alive on the page, and I can’t wait to hear what readers think of him.
And then there’s Nitzevet—David’s mother. Readers who have read Legacy will recognize her, and I loved bringing her steadfast love and influence into this story again.
What are you working on now? What can we expect in the future?
My newest release, Loosed: Michal’s Story, is launching now, and I’m incredibly excited to share it. It follows Michal—daughter of King Saul and wife to David—as she wrestles with control, identity, and what it truly means to find freedom in God.
I’m currently working on the next book in the series, Leaven, which will focus on Maachah and explore the limits of pride and the power of surrender.
I also host a podcast called God’s Power Stories, where we connect with God’s love through the power of His stories.
Do you have any fun facts to mention?
I tend to plot out my novels, but when it comes to writing, I’m very much a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kind of person.
One daily habit I do hold onto is starting each morning in conversation with God. I thank Him for whatever comes to mind, and then I give Him my day. I may have my own plans, but I truly want Him to lead—because I know that’s where a full and meaningful life is found.
What would you like to say to readers? (What do you hope readers take-away from your book?)
The same God who created the great figures of Scripture created you. The same God who used them for His glory wants to use you today.
He’s crazy about you, friend. He’s been thinking about you all day.

When control becomes your prison… can faith set you free?
In this gripping continuation of The Lambswool Chronicles, step into the untold story of Michal—King Saul’s daughter and King David’s first wife—whose life of privilege becomes a desperate struggle for survival as Israel’s destiny hangs in the balance.
Power. Pride. Surrender.
Born into a palace of power, Michal quickly learns that love is conditional and trust is dangerous. In a world ruled by men, fear, and madness, she sharpens manipulation into an art—her only means of control.
But when her carefully crafted world begins to unravel, and the cost of her choices becomes too great to bear, Michal is forced to confront the one thing she cannot control: the will of God.
Through years of betrayal, isolation, and regret, her journey unfolds against the turbulent rise of David’s kingdom. Torn between loyalty and truth, identity and survival, she must face who she has become…—and whether she can ever be free.
Until the day she is finally loosed from the chains she forged herself.
