Death’s shadow may touch the fringes of my life, but it cannot swallow me whole because my soul belongs to Christ. With His mighty rod, He removes the obstacles on the path before me. With His radiant staff, He leads me in the way that I should go. There is light that I follow in Him through the darkness. There is truth that pushes away the lies that try to trip me up. Because I am not alone, fear cannot shackle me. Because Jesus is holding my soul, shame cannot imprison me any longer. Under His Name, I am protected from the enemy’s assaults. By His power, I am comforted in my weakness. The Lord has been good to me. His anointing is my blessing. His presence is my treasure. Eternity is my rewarded inheritance in Christ. Lord, increase my faith now and forevermore. Under the Word of truth in Psalm 23:4-5 and the authority of Christ, I pray.
Even though I walk through the [sunless] valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort and console me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You have anointed and refreshed my head with [b]oil;
My cup overflows.
