God of all the universe, hear the cries of Your beloved – the ones buried deep within my heart that cannot be voiced with words. Tune Your holy ears to my sorrow, Jesus. For the comfort that I seek can only come from Your presence. Vindicate me from the one who prowls around me, seeking only to kill and steal and destroy. Let the enemy not kill the joy which You have brought to me. Let the evil one not steal the victory that is my inheritance in Christ. Let the darkness not destroy the light of faith igniting within me. Lord, visit me in the night seasons, so that I can find my way back to the light. Show me how to walk the path illuminated by Your Word. Empower me by the indwelling of Your Holy Spirit so that I do not transgress the way You have set before me. Under the mighty Word of truth in Psalm 17:1, 3 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I humbly pray.
Hear the just (righteous) cause, O Lord;
listen to my loud [piercing] cry;…You have tried my heart;
You have visited me in the night;
You have tested me and You find nothing [evil in me];
I intend that my mouth will not transgress.
