Great and mighty King whom I serve, come to my aid when the battle rages around me. Brandish Your protective covering when the enemy assails me with lies. Contend with those who wish me harm so that I do not endure unnecessary affliction. Should pain be the tool which You use to refine me, Lord, let me be refined to Your glory. Should trials be the instrument through which You teach me deep truth, let me learn the wisdom necessary for growth. My heart trusts in You, God. My soul clings to Your presence. Jesus, my defense and my shield, take my reputation in Your hands. Reveal to me my own iniquity in the midst of accusations. Incline my heart to desire reconciliation over revenge. Tune my ears to listen even when my mind wants to defend. In all things, make me more than a conqueror because I am perfectly kept by Your love, Jesus. Under the power of the Word in Matthew 7:5 and the authority of Christ, I bow before You in prayer.
You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye,
and then you will see clearly to remove the speck
from your brother’s eye.
Matthew 7:5, NIV
