Father in heaven, help Your beloved to accept this difficult truth – there is no going back. I yearn for the normalcy that was so violently ripped away from daily life. This unwanted change vexes my soul, distracting me from awareness of Your presence. Lord, let me not linger too long in the land of ‘woe is me.’ As I take a slice of my unrecognizable everyday life, it is a formidable landscape with no end in sight. If there is no going back to what once was, Lord, would You lead me forward to what will be? I need Your guidance and perpetual presence. As Your beloved, my soul rests in the assurance that every ending is truly a beginning in Christ. Every catastrophe is a lesson Every adversity is a shaping of my soul. God, my blessed Savior, invade my days with Your Spirit. Remove the clouds of despair as the wind of hope blows across the barren land once again. Every winter is destined for spring. Though I treasure bygone days, Lord, pierce the horizon of the future with a sliver of eternal light. May the endurance You have granted Your servant be of much use to Your Kingdom. Filter my thoughts and memories with Your truth so that in looking back my grief is vanquished by gratitude; and in looking forward my fears are silenced beneath holy anticipation. I place my trust in You, Jesus. You are the way to the ‘new normal.’ Under the Word given in Luke 9:62 and the authority of Christ, I bow in humble, needy prayer.
Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow
and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”
Luke 9:62, ESV
