Today’s Prayer

Hold me, my God, and lead me for I am Your wandering servant. My heart rejoices in my Savior’s nearness because there is no apparent spiritual distance that can take me far from the reach of Your hand. There is not a moment of suffering in which You have turned Your back on me. Even when I am deliriously unaware of Your presence due to the anguish of my own heart, You wait with patient whispers until I hear Your truth again. Lord, let no lie take root in my soul. Let no temptation turn me toward the wrong direction. When I reach for You with sorrowful lamentations and cries for mercy, take my weary hand, Jesus. Your tenderness is my anchor upon the stormy seas of adversity. Your presence is my refuge now and always. Let my aching heart rejoice in God, my Savior, for He has drawn me near to His heart. Though darkness may conceal Your presence from me it does not hide me from You. Under the power of Your Word in Psalm 139:9-12 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in humble prayer.

If I take the wings of the morning
    and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
even there Your hand shall lead me,
    and Your right hand shall hold me.
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,
    and the light about me be night,”
even the darkness is not dark to You;
    the night is bright as the day,
    for darkness is as light with You.
Psalm 139:9-12, ESV
