Chill the worldly affections that have penetrated my heart with a false sense of warmth, O Lord. Only the true fire of the Holy Spirit can set my faith ablaze without charring my soul. Lord, when Your beloved has fallen asleep to the sound of Your voice, awaken me to the alertness required for listening. Realign my soul’s expectation with a drive toward holiness. For I have been found by the One my soul loves. Filter my thoughts through the fingers of Your goodness, Lord, until all of my internal ponderings turn my gaze away from these momentary afflictions and onto the promise of eternity. Truly, You have planted grace in my soul in order that it might go forth and bear much fruit to the glory of Your Name. Border the narrow path I walk with love divine. Pave the road before me with surrendered expectation. Guide me in the steps of hope for the only One my heart waits for. Let my feet dance in the delight of the revelation of Your immeasurable love. Your Word is sweet and my weary soul finds rest in Your perfection. Jesus, You have taken all of my affections into heaven with You. Let all that I am center on You. Under the Word of truth given in Colossians 3:2-4 and the authority of Christ, I pray.

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
