Let my mournful soul rejoice. My God never fails. Lord Jesus, I yield my gloomy anticipations into Your blessed hands where the entirety of my future rests. My wintery discontent is eclipsed by the eternal summer which Your presence brings to my life. My night seasons of self-focused pity morphs into the daylight of divine purpose. Such beauty flows from You, Lord. Such grace takes my breath away with sheer delight. For in the midst of my infirmity You have loved me. Your love is truth. It is Your love that brightens the momentary shadow of spiritual chastisement rightly deserved. It is Your love that shields me with guidance to repentance so that faith roots grow deeper still. Father, make me Your child, willing to receive whatever You have designated necessary for the shaping of my soul into the likeness of my Savior. I remain a work in progress until such a time as I sit within eternity’s splendor, never again mindful of the trials of time. For the One who causes the wilderness of my heart to blossom like the lily of the valley, I give perpetual praise and honor. Forever with my King is where I long to be. Let exulting joy overshadow these momentary afflictions. Under the Word given in 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in humble prayer.
So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.
For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,
as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen.
For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18, ESV
I remain a work in progress until such a time as I sit within eternity’s splendor, never again mindful of the trials of time–Amen!
