Today’s Prayer

My gracious Lord God Almighty, console my troubled heart with remembrance of Your promises. Chase away the residual spirit of melancholy that vexes my peace in Your presence. For You are my sweet consolation, my everlasting joy. My soul longs for the day when the privilege of casting my crown at Your feet is realized. Let love abound because You have put my sin far away from me, Lord Jesus. Let my heart find solace in the fact that You don’t see me as I am but as I was meant to be. Such pardon is a precious jewel of the Spirit more valuable than any earthly commodity. When I look up, my eyes of faith no longer see the dark clouds of transgression. Now, through the lens of faith, I can catch glimpses of heaven’s glory. What a sight to behold! How can I not be consoled by such a view? May the wondrous acceptance of divine love embrace me until all worries are chased away. Though my heart is pierced by arrows of offense, Your skillful hands can remove the arrows and cover the wounds. Let every dying moment be filled with rejoicing, Lord. For there are things I need to die to each day in order to truly live in You. I trust in You, Jesus. Take this life, these moments, every heartbeat and let it all be consoled by Your indwelling Spirit. Under the Word of truth in Psalm 94:18-19 and the authority of Christ, I pray.

When I said, “My foot is slipping,”
Your unfailing love, Lord, supported me.
When anxiety was great within me,
    Your consolation brought me joy.
Psalm 94:18-19, NIV
