Today’s Prayer

Tender my heart, Lord God, until my soul is malleable beneath the brush of Your holy touch. No longer do I wish to indulge the foul enticements of this present world. Instead, let me live in perpetual longing for Your Kingdom to come. Only You can turn a heart of stone into a heart of flesh responsive in its delight in You, God. Make me inclined toward Your perfect will even if Your permissive will would suffice in a situation. May my own desires quiver like an autumn leaf caught up on the holy breath of heaven. Father God, invade the territory of my resistance until I bow in holy reverence of who You are. I am naturally bent to be cold, hard and unyielding. But I have seen the beauty of Your power in the sanctuary. You have chiseled rock into a holy Temple. Surely, You delight to mold me and refine me into the form You desired upon creation. Only Your mighty hands of grace could melt one as hardened as me in both ignorance and pride. Jesus, tender my affections toward You and only You until there is no singular pleasure which I can cling to that does not magnify Your great Name. Increase my love for You, Lord Jesus. You have redeemed me and I am Yours. Light the fires of passion until faith burns away the chaff and shines alone in Your image. Renew my heart to a love that abides until I worship You with heartfelt adoration. Father, I yield every fruit upon the altar in honor and praise of You. Prepare me for Your Kingdom. Let me stand and watch for Your coming. Your appearing, Jesus, is my salvation. Under the truth in the Word of Psalm 63:1-2 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in prayer.

O God, You are my God; with deepest longing I will seek You;
My soul [my life, my very self] thirsts for You, my flesh longs and sighs for You,
in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
So I have gazed upon You in the sanctuary,
To see Your power and Your glory.
