Today’s Prayer

Thank You for the sweet rest Your presence invites me to Lord Jesus. May I never take for granted the great benefit of this blessing which is so contrary to the hurried world I reside in. When I am refreshed in You, I am enabled to walk in Your holiness. Let me accomplish the good works You specifically appointed me in the regenerating strength of the rest You provide. Even when I sleep physically, I can let my troubled heart rest secure in You because You neither slumber nor sleep. Rather, You watch over Your beloved in holy providence. My Father in heaven, my weary heart is rested from the daily battles because I remember that You are my Defender from all enemies. Your heavenly host surround those You love with a barrier that thwarts the plans of the evil one. Truly, Your great Name is my refuge, a strong tower to which I can run in times of trouble in order to rest from the fight. I bow in gratitude, Lord, for the generosity of the Sabbath commandment. Forgive me for the times when I have resolutely denied its benefit. May I walk forward in the footprints of Your unhurried salvation. Resting in You is a sure sign of my trust. May it be ever increasing, Lord, until the day I am called to enter the rest that is eternal. Under the mighty Word of truth in Revelation 14:13 and the authority of the Lord, my Savior I bow in prayer.

And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this down: Blessed are those who die in the Lord from now on. Yes, says the Spirit, they are blessed indeed, for they will rest from their hard work; for their good deeds follow them!”
Revelations 14:13, NLT
