This book was an unexpected gem. A friend gave it to me with hardly any recommendation. I took a look at it and wasn’t interest. So it sat on my shelf for a few months. Then, one weekend, I picked it up and started to read it. What a surprise. I was intrigued and completely captivated.
The Lost Letters of Pergamum is a wonderful blend of historical fiction and drama surrounding the early church. The story truly transported me back in time as I read fictional letters between the main characters, gospel writer Luke and Antipas, a Roman civic leader.
The author truly captures the cultural context and weaves it beautifully with Scriptural truths. Antipas’ spiritual transformation was captivating. Overall, the book is a quick read. I managed to get it read in a week. If you are a fan of history and enjoy a book that makes you think, this one is for you.
