Today’s Prayer

Lord God Almighty, my soul sits by the wayside awaiting the holy presence of Your Son to pass by. Jesus, hear the cries of desperation issuing from my silent heart. Your nearness is my renewal. How blessed is the one who is seen, even in such a lowly estate. Still, You chose me for Yourself. Your compassionate eyes fixed on this lowly and abhorrent soul to receive me as Your child, to satisfy my deepest cravings and pull me back together with the bonding agent of love and grace. The indwelling power of Your Holy Spirit has brought forth fruit from once barren boughs. Your love truly is the Living Water that coaxes my roots deep into the soil of truth, Jesus. So rooted, I need not fear the storm. Most blessed Savior, I magnify You for Your faithfulness in vexing circumstances, for Your patience with my ignorant tendencies and Your gentleness when I act as if I have forgotten that I am Yours. When such is the case, may I return to the wayside to sit and cry out in prayer for the return of my King. Under the mighty Word of God in Ephesians 3:16-19 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in humble prayer.

I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
