My Father in heaven, though my heart is prone to unbelief and my soul borders the barren land of mistrust, I am glad that You have left the door open for my return. Truly in You, Jesus, I have found rest from the wearisome task of worry. You are my home, Lord. In Your presence I take refuge from the pressing concerns. With You I am safe from the violence which my enemy threatens me with. In the loving embrace of Your Holy Word I shelter and retreat. Jesus, I am replenished by Your promises and reinvigorated in Your truth. Though the conflicts of living in a fallen world often vex my soul, my heart turns to You, my Lord, because You are my home, the place where I can dwell at ease; the place where my heart can be fully exposed without fear and my confessions heard without reproof. With You, Lord, I have nothing to hide, no barrier of secrets stands between us. For You know me better than I know myself. You are my home. The place of purity and joy where the fountain runs deep, the waters of which are not tainted by anything corruptible is where I truly find rest. Your presence is my home, Lord God. Let me abide there for strength to carry burdens, for wisdom to make decisions, for love that prepares me for service. There is hope in knowing that one day You will call me home and I will never leave again. Under the magnificence of the Word given in John 14:1-2 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in humble prayer.
Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
John 14:1-2, ESV
