Lord, when my faith is tired and my hope feels like a dream so that devotion slips into routine, wake up my soul through trial if You must. Exercise those spiritual muscles of trust only required when everything goes against me. Illuminate my weaknesses with the lightning of conflict. Train me with a tempest of conviction. Only don’t let my faith fall into a deeper sleep. Move me like a ship making way to its destined harbor, Lord. Only wind and waves can propel it forward in howling ferocity and catalytic force. Let Your Word be that catalyst, Lord. Let Your presence be that wind. Only do not let my hope slumber into a dream that feels too far from reality. Jesus, move Your servant to the final shores where faith blossoms perpetually and sends forth a continual fragrance of hope. Take me out of the boat’s lulling intoxication when sailing in calm waters. Keep my feet on the solid rock of knowing You, my Savior. You are the One who brought me through the storm. You are the One who kept me safe when I feared my life would perish. You, Jesus, woke up my hope and revitalized my faith. Let my heart rejoice at the trouble in this world because I stand on the shores of faith with One who has overcome the world. Under the Word of truth in John 16:33 and the authority of my Savior, Christ Jesus, I bow in prayer.
And they went and woke Him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” And He said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then He rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. (Matthew 8:25-26, ESV) I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.
John 16:33, ESV
Only do not let my hope slumber into a dream that feels too far from reality. Jesus, move Your servant to the final shores where faith blossoms perpetually and sends forth a continual fragrance of hope–Amen!
