Today’s Prayer

Cultivate in me a character of godliness, Lord Almighty. When the world has become outrageously wicked, let my heart be courageous in faithfulness. May my soul refrain from unwarranted focus on the bewitching distractions of worldliness. Show me the beauty of holiness in life. Reveal to me the sanctified steps I must take upon the narrow path reflective of the Way. Jesus, You are the only Way, the only Truth, the only Life. Though every glittering jewel of preference and comfort, of ease and predictability, be taken from me, keep my heart steadfastly earnest in devotion to the truth that is my Savior. Lord, by Your power may I walk in the briskness and fervor of the unmerited favor granted my wayward soul when You willingly took the path to the cross for me. Though the world around me grows in apostasy, keep the embers of faith enflamed until my words and deeds reflect the light of Your divine love. Let the zeal of holiness blaze as a torch that can light the embers of faith within the heart of another. When the hearts of others have withered into a frozen tundra of discontent, Lord, keep hope burning hotter within me. Melt the corruption from within so that there is more room for holy desires. God, only You can set Your servants apart for tender service. Only You can draw the holy lines which keep me separated from the world’s influence while remaining close enough to love the world in Your Name and beneath Your banner of salvation. Under the beauty of the Word found in John 17:22-23 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I pray.

The glory which You have given Me, I have given to them; that they may be one, even as We are one; I in them, and You in Me, that they may be perfected into one; that the world may know that You sent Me and loved them, even as You loved Me.
