Today’s Prayer

Spirit of the Living God, help me prepare the way for the Lord. Ready me by grace so that His triumphal progress utterly transforms my soul into His likeness. Lord, may I heed that call in the wilderness of my life. A call to make ready so that You, in power, majesty and love, may traverse the desert of my heart as You make Your way deeper into my soul. Exalt the valleys, Lord God. Lay low every mountain and hill. Where my thoughts of You are weighted by doubt and despair, let them be lifted up beyond my self-pitying, carnal concerns and exalted to the majestic holiness that befits You. Where boasting self-righteousness has lifted me up in false security, bring me low by means of a contrite heart that pleases You through humility. My heart has wavered far too long Lord. Straighten the crooked places with a supreme marker of holiness. For You are my heart-searching, soul-transforming King. Let me delight to make a way because only You can show me the way to the outermost edges of my soul. Unless You travel there, the stumbling block of sin remains. The briers of rebellion choke the garden of truth so lovingly planted by Your Word. Come, King Jesus. Make my heart grounds for Your holy procession. Under the Word given in Romans 12:2 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in prayer.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:2, NIV
